ABOUT THE BOWEN FAMILY  

Bowen Cutting Horses is owned by Frank and Janet Bowen.  Both Frank and Janet have been involved with horses all of their lives.  Frank Bowen is a successful cutting horse trainer and showman.  Janet Bowen is a Veterinarian, breeder, and non pro cutter.  Frank and Janet have 2 children, Bracken and Tristan, that have also been very successful cutters and ropers.

Frank Bowen is an accomplished cutting horse trainer with lifetime earnings of over $450,000 in NCHA (National Cutting Horse Association) dollars.  Frank grew up in the foothills of Idaho, ranching and team roping.  After graduating from Ricks College, with an associate degree in Horse Management and Training, Frank moved to Texas and began his career training cutting horses.

Frank is a NCHA Director, AAA NCHA Judge, served as President of the Bluebonnet Cutting Horse Accociation (2004-2006).

Janet Bowen, DVM born in Eastland, Texas, grew up on the east coast showing hunter jumpers.  Janet graduated Texas A&M, from Vet School in 1987.  Frank and Janet married in 1988.  She was introduced to the cutting world by Frank and has been cutting ever since.

Janet won the NCHA $10K Non Pro Reserve World Championship in 1993 riding Sugs Anna Lee, her first grulla mare.  This wonderful mare fueled Janet's passion for grulla cutting horses.  Janet is now on her fourth generation of grulla cutting mares, and looks forward to many more.


In 1997 Janet began developing her skills performing embryo flushes.  Due to her successes, Janet now offers a limited embryo service to outside customers.  Janet also offers a mare foal out service.

 

Janet has a lifetime earnings of $140,000+ in NCHA dollars.

 

 

Bracken Bowen, born 1991, spent eight years showing cutting horses then moved to the calf and team roping arena.  Bracken has a lifetime earnings of $1,415 in NCHA dollars. 
 

Tristan Bowen, born 1997, has a lifetime earnings of $5,663 in NCHA dollars.  Tristan began her riding career at four, and first rode to the herd when she was five.  Her cutting success includes 2006 Region 7 Non Pro Derby Campion, 2006 Blue Bonnet CHA year end Non Pro Derby Reserve Champion, and finished 12th in the finals out of 120 junior youth NCHA Summer Spectacular Scholarship Cutting.  From the beginning of her life, Tristan always demonstrated an uncanny way with animals.  Tristan enjoys her cat, music, and fashion.
